Watch Ms. Hankey's winning performances at Placido Domingo's Operalia Competition & The Glyndebourne Cup, in a celebration of Mozart at The Greene Space in lower Manhattan alongside fellow Tucker Foundation grant recipients, and more.
Ms. Hankey performs "Da, chas nastal!" from Tchaikovsky's The Maid of Orleans under the baton of Placido Domingo in the final round of Placido Domingo's Operalia Competition, hosted at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon, Portugal. Ms. Hankey was awarded the Second Prize Award in the general division as well as the Birgit Nilsson Award.
Experience the final round of the first-ever Glyndebourne Opera Cup, hosted by soprano Danielle de Niese and comedian-actor Chris Addison, and featuring the 10 competition finalists accompanied by the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment conducted by James Gaffigan. Ms. Hankey was ultimately awarded both 1st Prize and Media Prize in the prestigious inaugural competition.
WQXR: THE GREENE SPACE
On Thursday, October 13, WQXR presented an evening of music and conversation featuring 2016 Richard Tucker Award-winner Tamara Wilson and Tucker Foundation grant recipients Erin Morley, Samantha Hankey and Andrew Stenson in a celebration of Mozart at The Greene Space in lower Manhattan. Together with pianist Brian Zeger, artistic director of Juilliard's Marcus Institute, they performed arias and duets from some of the composer’s most beloved operas, including Don Giovanni, Le Nozze di Figaro, and Die Zauberflöte WQXR's Nimet Habachy hosted.
