The Schwabacher Recital Series offers you the opportunity to hear gifted singers in an up-close and intimate setting. Since 1983, these recitals have featured renowned Merola alumni and have also been instrumental in launching the careers of internationally acclaimed artists. This recital featured Samantha Hankey, mezzo-soprano and Carrie-Ann Matheson, pianist.

Soprano Nadine Sierra and tenor Benjamin Bernheim are the star-crossed lovers in Gounod’s sumptuous Shakespeare adaptation, with Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin on the podium. Bartlett Sher’s towering staging featured baritone Will Liverman and tenor Frederick Ballentine as the archrivals Mercutio and Tybalt, mezzo-soprano Samantha Hankey as the mischievous pageboy Stéphano, and bass-baritone Alfred Walker as Frère Laurent.

Thought-provoking and playful, Mozart’s classic opera offers humor and insight into human nature. This dense and radically modern production by Kirill Serebrennikov is from 2018, and was developed under exceptional conditions. The young, internationally sought-after mezzo-soprano, Samantha Hankey, returned to Zürich in the role of Dorabella.

The wedding of the servant couple Figaro and Susanna is imminent, and everything could be so beautiful - if it weren't for the love-lusting Count Almaviva, who has been pursuing Susanna for a long time, and the vengeful Doctor Bartolo and his housekeeper Marcellina, who all want to prevent a wedding. Samantha Hankey appears as Cherubino in this production.

The Santa Fe Opera partnered with 95.5 KHFM Classical Public Radio to present a pre-recorded, remastered broadcast of each production. KHFM serves the entire state of New Mexico via translators in Albuquerque, Taos, Roswell and Ruidoso and reaches national and international listeners via online streaming. ​

Ms. Hankey performed as one of twelve finalists in Placido Domingo's Operalia Competition at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon, Portugal. Ms. Hankey was awarded the Second Prize Award in the general division as well as the Birgit Nilsson Prize for her interpretation of the work of Richard Strauss.
